The Oahu Bearcats is a Youth Basketball Association based in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. The team began in 2018 with Head Coach Reggie Kirkman who, at the time, ran a basketball skills clinic at Ewa Mahiko. After speaking with the kids in attendance, Coach Reggie realized that none of them belonged to a basketball team, but all were looking to join one. This was the inception of the Oahu Bearcats organization.  Over the past two years, the team has grown to include three separate divisions of 50 players and four assistant coaches.

The Bearcats name: One evening Coach Reggie went home and caught a college game with the Cinncinati Bearcats. The Bearcats were down and were not favored to win the game. Even so, the team fought hard, did not give up and played with heart. No matter the outcome, these were the basic lifelong skills that Coach Reggie knew he wanted his team to embody.​
